Ancient Rome Learning Center Unit

Roman Colosseum
A mapping task begins with the settlement of the Italian peninsula and the conquest of the Carthaginians in the Punic Wars. The maps end with the extent of the Roman Empire at the time of Julius Caesar. Roman numerals are explained, and a 5-page task describes Latin word roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Art activities are making the face of Janus, decorating a shield, and constructing a soldier's face mask. The unit ends with 14 Reading Task Cards that trace the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.
